Dhaka, Aug 20 (V7N) - Interim government Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus stated on Tuesday that Bangladesh could see an increase in global trade if the nation works together to overcome its current challenges. He described the situation as a "hard situation," but also emphasized the potential benefits if the country manages to rise above the difficulties.

"If we can collectively get through this 'mess,' the world will turn its attention to us, seek inspiration from us, and want to engage in more business with Bangladesh," Yunus remarked during a meeting with leaders of the International Chamber of Commerce, Bangladesh (ICC-B) at the State Guest House Jamuna.

The business delegation, led by ICC-B President Mahbubur Rahman, extended their support to the Chief Adviser as he assumed leadership of the Interim Government. Rahman expressed the full backing of the country's business community for Yunus in his new role.

Yunus acknowledged the challenges, stating, "It’s a very hard situation that we are in now. But it’s also the biggest opportunity that we can get. Our job is difficult, but very much doable." He expressed confidence that the economic difficulties inherited by his administration would improve soon with the implementation of essential reforms.

The ICC-B leaders urged the 2006 Nobel Peace Laureate to carry out necessary reforms methodically to restore stability in the economy. They highlighted the need for deep reforms and restructuring in key sectors such as banking, revenue administration, education, and industry, which they claimed had been left in disarray by the previous government.

Mahbubur Rahman, ICC-B President, reassured Yunus of the private sector's unwavering support, stating, "We are a witness to what happened over the last 15 years. The Bangladesh private sector is with you 100 percent."

Professor Yunus encouraged the delegation to "think outside the box to achieve greatness as a nation." He added, "If we can make the young people’s dream come true, we can make the nation’s dream come true."

Senior business leaders, including FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam, Tapan Chowdhury, Kutubuddin Ahmed, AK Azad, Simeen Rahman, Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, Naser Ezaz Bijoy, Fazlul Hoque, and Mohammad Hatem, were present at the meeting.
