Dhaka, Aug 26 (V7N): The death toll from the ongoing floods across 11 districts in Bangladesh has climbed to 23, affecting over 5.5 million people, according to the latest report from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief. The update, released at 11 am on Monday, indicates an improvement in the flood situation, with water levels in all major rivers beginning to recede.

As of Sunday, the reported fatalities stood at 20, with around 5.2 million individuals affected by the floods. The Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre noted that there has been no significant rainfall in the past 24 hours in the eastern districts of Comilla, Brahmanbaria, and Feni, which border Indian Tripura and the internal basins of Tripura.

The trend of declining water levels in upstream rivers is ongoing, contributing to the gradual improvement of the flood situation in the low-lying areas of Feni and Comilla.
