Dhaka, Sep 12 (V7N): India reaffirmed its commitment to working with Bangladesh's interim government, emphasizing a collaborative effort to meet the "shared aspirations" of both nations while maintaining national pride, according to Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.

Speaking at a weekly press briefing in New Delhi, Jaiswal addressed inquiries regarding Sheikh Hasina's extradition and current situation in India. He dismissed such questions as "hypothetical" and declined to comment further. Jaiswal noted that Hasina arrived in India on August 5 under short notice and had no additional updates.

When asked about Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus's recent remarks that Hasina should remain silent during her stay in India and that New Delhi should move beyond her narrative, Jaiswal said that India’s High Commissioner had conveyed India’s readiness to collaborate with Bangladesh to fulfill mutual aspirations.

Regarding the Adani Power deal with the Bangladesh Power Development Board for electricity supply, Jaiswal described it as a "buyer-seller agreement" and encouraged both parties to resolve any related issues. On the India-Bangladesh friendship pipeline from Assam to Parbatipur, he confirmed its functionality and mentioned that India is awaiting Bangladesh’s response on extending the project.

On the revival of India-Bangladesh bilateral development projects, Jaiswal reiterated that work would resume once law and order stabilize in Bangladesh and Indian workers can safely return.
