Dhaka, Sep 15 (V7N) – The United States has expressed its commitment to support Bangladesh's new growth initiative, reinforcing economic collaboration between the two nations. This pledge was made following a series of meetings between a visiting US delegation and Bangladesh’s top policymakers in Dhaka.

On Sunday, Finance Advisor Salehuddin Ahmed met with members of the US delegation at the Rashtriya Guest House Padma, where the US assured its full backing for Bangladesh’s economic progress. According to a post from the US Embassy in Dhaka, "We will support Bangladesh's progress on the path of growth with new enthusiasm." The post further emphasized US engagement with international financial institutions to assist Bangladesh’s initiatives for economic growth, job creation, and sustainable development.

Prior to the meeting with the Finance Advisor, the US delegation also met with Foreign Affairs Advisor Touhid Hossain. The embassy's social media post after this meeting reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to expanding economic activity, building institutional capacity, upholding human rights, and addressing climate change risks in partnership with Bangladesh.

The high-level delegation, led by Brent Neiman, Deputy Under Secretary of the US Department of Revenue, and Donald Lu, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, arrived in Dhaka on Saturday. This marks the first official visit by a US delegation since the interim government, headed by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, took charge in August.

The US’s renewed commitment to Bangladesh comes at a critical time as the country seeks to bolster its economic growth and enhance institutional resilience in the face of global challenges. The discussions highlighted shared priorities in fostering sustainable development and further strengthening US-Bangladesh relations.
