DHAKA, Jan 12, (V7N) – The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) experienced a slight downturn in the first hour of trading on Sunday, with two major indices declining while the Shariah index posted modest gains.
The benchmark DSEX index edged down by 0.01 points to 5,194.42, while the DS30 blue-chip index dropped 2.85 points to 1,921.41. In contrast, the DSES Shariah index rose by 4.16 points, reaching 1,166.10.
Early trading data from the DSE showed that 3.27 crore shares and units were exchanged across 31,872 transactions, amounting to a turnover of Tk 101.9 crore. The market faced significant selling pressure during this period.
Out of 372 companies that participated in trading, share prices of 142 firms advanced, 146 declined, and 84 remained unchanged.
Market analysts suggest that cautious investor sentiment and profit-taking contributed to the early market volatility.
