Oct 09 (V7N) – Dhaka Deputy Commissioner (DC) Tanveer Ahmed has assured that there are no security threats to Durga Puja celebrations in the Dhaka region, stating that overall temple management and security measures are satisfactory. He shared this during a visit to Madhav Mandir in the Kayetpara area of Dhamrai municipality on Wednesday afternoon.
"The overall situation, including the management of temples, seems very good. We've inspected several temples, and the security arrangements everywhere are satisfactory," said DC Tanveer Ahmed, speaking to reporters. He emphasized that the police have no information suggesting any potential threats to the celebration of Durga Puja this year.
DC Ahmed highlighted that the nation is undergoing a significant transitional phase, and law enforcement is playing a critical role in maintaining peace and stability. "We are not only focusing on ensuring a peaceful Puja but also working to maintain stability in all sectors," he added.
In light of the current situation, the government is prioritizing law enforcement to ensure public safety, and a large recruitment drive for constables has been initiated. "The government is making efforts to restore morale and ensure stability, and we are working as per the government's directives," Ahmed noted.
Joining the visit were Dhaka District Superintendent of Police (SP) Ahmed Mueed, Acting Dhamrai Upazila Executive Officer Prashant Kumar Vaidya, Dhamrai Upazila BNP President Tamiz Uddin, General Secretary of Dhaka District Puja Celebration Committee Nanda Gopal Sen, President of Dhamrai Puja Celebration Committee Ajit Kumar Chakraborty, and other local dignitaries.
With the security arrangements in place, officials and community leaders are hopeful for a peaceful and joyous Durga Puja celebration across the region.
