Dhaka, Oct 14 (V7N) — Garment factory workers took to the streets in the Kachukhet area near the capital’s cantonment early Monday morning, blocking the road in protest over unpaid wages. The workers, numbering around 1300, are demanding one and a half months’ worth of overdue salaries .

The protesters claimed that the factory management has not only failed to pay their wages but has also issued threats regarding the payments. Adding to their frustration, the workers reported that the factory was closed the previous day, and goods were removed, raising concerns over the company's future operations. The workers have vowed to continue their agitation until all outstanding wages are paid in full.

This protest comes at a time when normal life is resuming after the Durga Puja holidays . The roadblock on Monday, the first working day after the holidays, caused significant inconvenience to commuters. A massive traffic jam stretched from Mirpur-14 to Kachukshet , affecting many travelers and causing delays.

Authorities are yet to issue a statement on how they plan to resolve the situation, but the garment workers remain firm in their demand for payment of their dues.
