Dhaka, Dec 07 (V7N)- Retired members of Bangladesh's armed forces have pledged to counter any internal or international conspiracy, emphasizing the need for national unity against external threats. They voiced their concerns at a protest rally held at the Rawa Complex in Dhaka on Saturday (December 7), where they condemned Indian aggression and called for an equal and independent foreign policy.

  1. Criticism of Indian Aggression:
The rally criticized recent incidents, including the alleged attack on the Bangladesh High Commission in India and disrespect towards Bangladesh’s national flag, labeling them as threats to the nation's independence and sovereignty.

  2. Demand for an Independent Foreign Policy:
Retired Colonel Mohammad Ahsanullah, the convener of the rally, urged the government to adopt a foreign policy rooted in equality rather than submission. He stated,

"We want a foreign policy on the basis of equality, not a kneeling foreign policy."

  3. Appeal to Indian Citizens:
While maintaining that Bangladesh has no hostility towards India, Ahsanullah criticized Hindu supremacism, asserting that such ideologies would not find refuge in Bangladesh. He reiterated the call for peaceful relations based on mutual respect.

  4. Call for National Unity:
Participants urged the government and citizens to unite in the face of threats, emphasizing their readiness to protect the nation from any conspiracies.

The rally saw participation from several hundred retired armed forces personnel, freedom fighters, and citizens. After the speeches, the attendees joined a peaceful procession that began and ended at the Rawa Club, symbolizing their solidarity and resolve.

This demonstration underscores growing concerns about external aggression and reflects the retired officers' commitment to safeguarding Bangladesh's sovereignty and fostering a balanced approach to international relations.
