Gazipur, Feb 09 (V7N) – A total of 82 Awami League leaders and activists have been arrested in Gazipur as part of the nationwide 'Operation Devil Hunt', law enforcement authorities confirmed. The arrests include 40 individuals from five police stations in Gazipur district and 42 others from eight police stations within the city limits.

The arrests were made during overnight raids on Saturday (February 8), conducted by a coalition of law enforcement agencies, including the Gazipur Metropolitan Police, Bangladesh Army, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and other security forces. The identities of the detained individuals have not yet been released.

At approximately 9:30 AM on Sunday (February 9), Gazipur District Police Superintendent Dr. Chowdhury Md. Jaber Sadek confirmed that the operation is still ongoing across various police stations in the district. He stated, "In the operation that began yesterday, 40 people have been arrested from five police stations in Gazipur district and 42 people from eight police stations in the metropolitan area till 9 AM. Those arrested are connected in various ways to the fascist Awami League government."

Gazipur Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner Md. Zahidul Hasan confirmed that operations are being conducted in multiple police stations across the metropolitan area and reiterated that the crackdown will continue.

The 'Operation Devil Hunt' is a broad campaign targeting individuals accused of destabilizing activities across the country. Authorities have emphasized that the operation will persist until all suspects are brought to justice.
