Dhaka, Mar 02 (V7N) – In a bid to support low-income consumers during Ramadan, the Department of Livestock has launched a special sale program offering milk, eggs, and meat at lower prices across 25 locations in Dhaka.
Starting Sunday (March 2), refrigerated trucks have been deployed in various parts of the city, making essential protein-rich food items more affordable and accessible.
Available Products & Pricing:
- Beef: Price increased by Tk 50 per kg compared to last year.
- Broiler Chicken: Available at discounted rates.
- Milk: 1 liter per person allocation.
- Eggs: Sold by the dozen.
- Goat Meat: Not included in this year’s program.
Each buyer can purchase:
- 1 kg of meat
- 1 liter of milk
- 1 dozen eggs
Officials confirmed that private company owners are actively cooperating with the government’s initiative by supplying products at lower rates. Entrepreneurs have assured that the stock in the trucks will be gradually increased to meet demand.
This initiative is expected to ease the burden on low-income families as food prices usually surge during Ramadan.
