Gazipur, Mar 11 (V7N) – Workers of BHIS Apparels Limited staged a protest on Tuesday morning, blocking the Dhaka-Mymensingh and Dhaka-Tangail highways in Tongi, Gazipur, demanding unpaid wages.

The protest took place in the Hossain Market area of Tongi, where workers blocked traffic, causing significant congestion.

According to Faridul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tongi East Police Station, the protest began in the morning, and around 11 AM, the Bangladesh Army and police intervened, convincing the workers to clear the highways.

"The workers had blocked the highway over various demands, including overdue wages. After negotiations, they agreed to leave the road, and traffic movement resumed," said OC Faridul Islam.

However, despite clearing the highway, the workers continued their protest in front of the factory's main gate, demanding an immediate resolution of their grievances.
