Dhaka, Mar 26 (V7N) – The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-1) has arrested eight individuals, including the mastermind behind a railway ticket black market ring, in operations conducted at Dhaka’s Airport and Kamalapur Railway Stations.
At a press conference held at the RAB-1 office in Uttara, Lieutenant Commander Mohammad Zakiul Karim provided details of the operation.
Exploiting Eid Ticket Sales
With Bangladesh Railway implementing a 100% online ticketing system through Shohoz.com, black marketeers took advantage of the high demand for Eid travel, hoarding and reselling tickets at inflated prices.
"As soon as Eid train tickets were released, they were being sold out instantly. Our intelligence surveillance led us to the ringleader and his network," said Lt. Commander Karim.
