Dhaka, Jun 04 (V7N) – The Mohakhali Inter-District Bus Terminal in the capital has been witnessing heavy passenger pressure since Wednesday (May 4) morning, as thousands begin their Eid-ul-Azha journey home. Long queues formed at ticket counters, especially for long-distance routes to Habiganj and other parts of Sylhet.
Despite the growing crowd, a shortage of buses is causing frustration among passengers. According to counter staff, many buses scheduled to depart are delayed in returning to Dhaka due to severe traffic congestion on the highways.
"As the buses haven’t returned on time, even passengers with advance tickets are having to wait," said a counter representative. "We are trying to dispatch vehicles as soon as they arrive."
The number of passengers continues to increase throughout the day, with many waiting for hours under the scorching sun and humid conditions. Authorities at the terminal have said they are doing their best to manage the pressure, but the mismatch between supply and demand remains a key challenge.
With Eid just days away, transport operators expect pressure to rise further and are urging passengers to remain patient as they work to manage the high volume of travelers.
