Dhaka, June 13 (V7N) – After the Eid-ul-Azha holidays, Dhaka is once again bustling with returning holidaymakers. Passenger launches from the southern region began arriving at the capital’s Sadarghat terminal from the early hours of Friday (June 13), bringing back hundreds of families eager to resume their regular routines.

Despite facing some inconvenience during their Eid journeys, most passengers expressed satisfaction over spending quality time with relatives during the extended break. Many said that the long holiday provided much-needed relaxation and has motivated them to return to work with renewed enthusiasm.

However, the return journey has not been smooth for everyone. A common complaint among passengers is the exorbitant fares being charged by public transport operators, especially CNG-run auto-rickshaws and other vehicles in the Sadarghat area.

Passengers reported that transport fares were more than double the usual rates, forcing many families to wait for hours in search of affordable rides home.

“We had a great holiday with family, but this situation at Sadarghat is frustrating. CNG drivers are demanding fares far beyond the meter rate,” said one returning passenger, expressing the frustration shared by many others.

Authorities have yet to take visible action to regulate the fares or ensure proper transport arrangements for the influx of returning passengers.
