Dhaka, Sept 4 (V7N) – The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced updated regulations concerning public assemblies and demonstrations in the capital. The directive was made public through an official notice signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali on Thursday.

The statement, aimed at informing the general public, cites concerns over public order and the security of the Honorable Chief Adviser as the primary reasons behind the new measures. The rules have been issued in accordance with Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III of 1976), which empowers the DMP to regulate public gatherings in certain circumstances.

While specific procedural details were not included in the summary of the notice, the DMP emphasized that individuals or organizations planning to hold any form of rally, march, or protest within city limits must obtain prior permission. The police authority also stated that necessary legal action would be taken against violators.

This move comes at a time when political activity is expected to increase in the lead-up to upcoming national events. In recent years, the DMP has periodically imposed restrictions or guidelines on public gatherings to prevent disruptions and maintain civic peace.

Law enforcement officials have urged citizens to remain cooperative and informed, stressing that these regulations are intended to protect both public safety and democratic order. Additional information, including application procedures for organizing events, will be provided through the DMP’s official channels.

The new directive is part of broader efforts to enhance coordination between security forces and the public during periods of heightened political and social activity.
