Dhaka, Jan 04 (V7N)- The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a public notice banning all gatherings and public events in areas surrounding the Bangladesh Secretariat and the official residence of the Chief Advisor, Jamuna, effective from Monday (January 5) until further notice.
The notice, signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali on Sunday (January 4) afternoon, cites powers under Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76).
Under the order, the following activities are prohibited in the designated areas:

Meetings, rallies, and mass gatherings

Processions and human chains

Sit-in strikes and public demonstrations

Any other forms of public assembly
The ban applies not only to the Secretariat and Jamuna residence but also to surrounding areas including Hotel Intercontinental Crossing, Kakrail Mosque Crossing, Officers Club Crossing, and Mintu Road Crossing.
The police have stated that the order will remain in effect until further notice, aiming to maintain security and public order in these sensitive locations.
