Fire has ravaged approximately 200 homes in the Tekpara and Yakub Nagar slums located in Chittagong’s Firingee Bazar area.

According to Abdur Razzak, Assistant Deputy Director of the Fire Service for the Chittagong Region, the fire broke out at 1:20 pm and was subdued by around 2:15 pm.

Efforts are currently ongoing to fully extinguish the flames.Razzak stated, "Firefighters from Nandankanan, Lamarbazar, Chandanpura, and Agrabad fire stations are actively engaged in extinguishing the fire.

Nine units from these stations managed to bring the blaze under control, and they are now working to fully extinguish it.

"The exact cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed by the Fire Service and local authorities.

A thick trail of black smoke emanating from the slums adjacent to Mariner’s Road in Firingee Bazar was visible from a considerable distance.

Hassan Murad Biplob, the councillor for the Firingee Bazar ward, remarked, "Upon receiving news of the fire, we promptly responded to the scene. With assistance from the local community, we were able to contain the fire.
