Dhaka, Sep 04 (V7N) - Two former Inspectors General of Police (IGPs), AKM Shahidul Haque and Chowdhury Abdullah-Al-Mamun, have been detained by law enforcement agencies. The arrests took place in Uttara on Tuesday night.
 
The Media and Public Relations Department of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) communicated this development via text message. Rezaul Karim Mallick, Additional Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed that both former police chiefs are currently in the custody of the Detective Branch (DB).
 
Shahidul Haque and Abdullah-Al-Mamun face several charges, including multiple murder cases. This marks the first time in recent history that individuals holding the rank of Inspector General of Police have been arrested.
