Barguna, May 08 (V7N) - Over fifty youths in Patharghata, Barguna, organized an awareness rally and human chain on Thursday afternoon as part of an anti-plastic movement. The initiative, carried out under the banner of Acta Vista Barguna with the theme 'Stop plastic pollution, protect the environment', aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of plastic and polythene.

The rally commenced in the afternoon and proceeded along the main road of Patharghata Municipality, culminating in a human chain at the Gol Chattar. Following the human chain, the participating youths engaged with various shopkeepers in the market, educating them about the importance of refraining from using polythene bags. This awareness campaign was a collaborative effort between NSS's Fourteen Project and ActionAid Bangladesh.

Social activist Mehedi Sikder, Project Coordinator of Action for Transformation Project Md. Limon Biswas, Representative of ActionAid Bangladesh Inspirator Sweet Khan, NSS Project Officer Ruma Begum, and activists from Barguna Youth Hub (Patharghata) were present at the rally and human chain.

The speakers at the event highlighted the widespread knowledge of the adverse impacts of climate change resulting from plastic and polythene use. However, they noted a lack of proactive measures to rectify or avoid this problem. They also pointed out the absence of strong governmental action to shut down polythene factories. The activists emphasized their ongoing efforts to inform the public about the consequences of climate change and the detrimental aspects of using plastic and polythene, urging everyone to protect future generations and the planet.
