Dhaka, Oct 19 (V7N) — Former Law Minister Anisul Haque has been sent to jail following two days of remand in connection with the Al-Amin murder case, registered at Badda Police Station.

On Saturday, Sub-Inspector (SI) Ahsan Habib of Badda Police Station presented Haque before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court, requesting that he remain in jail until the investigation is completed. During the hearing, Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider rejected Haque's bail plea and ordered his detention.

According to the remand application, key information was obtained during the interrogation of the accused. The prosecution argued that several high-ranking Awami League leaders have been attempting to flee the country, and Haque was arrested while trying to escape. They expressed concern that he might abscond if granted bail.

The case centers on an incident from August 5, when Al-Amin Hossain participated in a celebratory procession in the Badda area of Dhaka. During the event, gunfire allegedly by "Awami-backed terrorist forces" resulted in Al-Amin’s death.

Following the incident, Al-Amin’s mother filed a murder case on September 21, naming Anisul Haque as the fourth accused, allegedly responsible for planning and guiding the attack.

The investigation officer sought Haque’s remand to uncover further details and identify other suspects involved. As part of this process, the court granted a two-day remand on October 14.

Haque has been implicated in over 50 murder cases across several police stations, including Motijheel, Mirpur, Dhanmondi, Mohammadpur, Adabar, Badda, and Banani, making this a high-profile legal development.
