Ukhiya Ju 11,(V7N0- Border Guard Battalion (BGB) arrested a Rohingya individual with 755 grams of crystal meth, also known as "ice," at a passenger rickshaw checkpoint in the Morichya joint check post area of Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar. A mobile phone was also recovered from the suspect. The estimated value of the seized drugs is 37.77 million BDT, according to the BGB.
The arrested individual is Md. Siraj (21), son of the late Nur Hossain from the Kutupalong Rohingya camp in Ukhiya. The suspect has been handed over to Ramu Police Station in Cox's Bazar.
The operation was conducted on Monday night (June 10) on the Morichya Bazaar bridge in Ukhiya.
The information was disclosed in a press release signed by BGB Public Relations Officer Shariful Islam.
Lieutenant Colonel Syed Wahiduzzaman Tanzid, the commander of the 30th BGB, confirmed the incident. He stated that the suspect has been handed over to Ramu Police Station and a case will be filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
