Ukhiya, July 14 (V7N)- A member of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) was injured in a gunfight with ARSA Armed terrorists at the Rohingya camp in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar. Following the incident, additional police forces have been deployed inside the camp.

The injured officer, Md. Shahraj (25), is a constable stationed at the Madhurchhara police camp of APBn. He is currently receiving treatment at Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital.

The incident occurred early Sunday (July 14) in Block F of the Madhurchhara 4-Extension Rohingya Camp in Ukhiya Upazila.

14 APBn Commander Additional Deputy Inspector General (ADIG) Mohammad Iqbal stated that nine APBn officers were on duty in Block F of the Madhurchhara 4-Extension Rohingya Camp early Sunday morning. At one point, 30 to 35 Armed terrorists entered from outside the camp's barbed-wire perimeter and started shooting indiscriminately at the APBn officers. The APBn members returned fire in self-defense, and the Armed terrorists eventually fled.

"In the exchange of fire, APBn officer Md. Shahraj was shot by the Armed terrorists. He sustained injuries to his right thigh and right hand fingers," said ADIG Mohammad Iqbal.

After the gunfight, the injured APBn officer was rescued and taken to Ukhiya Upazila Health Complex. The attending doctor referred him to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for advanced treatment.

Mohammad Iqbal added that police operations are ongoing to apprehend the Armed terrorists involved in the incident.
