Khulna, Dec 20 (V7N)- The July Shaheed Smriti Foundation presented cheques worth Tk 2.9 crore to the families of martyrs in the July-August movement at the Khulna District Shilpakala Academy Auditorium this morning (Friday). Each of the 58 martyr families of the anti-discrimination student movement in 10 districts of Khulna division received cheques worth Tk 5 lakh each, totaling Tk 2.9 crore.

July Shaheed Smriti Foundation General Secretary Sarjis Alam, Divisional Commissioner Md. Firoz Sarkar, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Zulfikar Ali Haider, Additional Range DIG Md. Hasanuzzaman, Deputy Commissioner Md. Saiful Islam, Superintendent of Police T. M. Mosharraf Hossain, Central Coordinator of July Shaheed Smriti Foundation Md. Tariqul Islam, Ashrafa Khatun and Md. Wahiduzzaman spoke at the event.  Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdha, CEO of July Shaheed Smriti Foundation, delivered the welcome speech.

At the event, Sarjis Alam said that one of the failures of the current interim government is that the murderers of the student population have not yet been brought to justice.

The guests said that we have got a new Bangladesh through the student population movement. They have given a new Bangladesh with their lives. This Bangladesh is a Bangladesh of self-confidence, courage and courage. The new Bangladesh must be taken forward. The history of this uprising is the fruit of the struggle of the student population of the new Bangladesh. One group tried to turn the student population movement to the other. Efforts to derail the uprising are still ongoing. We need to implement the desires and aspirations of the students. There was discrimination in all areas for the last 15 years. If we want to build our society and Bangladesh without discrimination, we must ensure transparency and accountability in all areas.

Family members of the martyrs and injured in the anti-discrimination student movement, officials from various government departments, members of the July Shaheed Memorial Foundation, the central and Khulna district coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, and media workers were present at the event.
