Patuakhali, Jan 07 (V7N) — The second unit of the 1320 MW Payra Thermal Power Plant in Patuakhali has resumed operations following nearly two months of maintenance work. The unit began generating electricity again on Monday night, as confirmed by Shah Abdul Mawla, the plant manager, to Ekattor Television on Tuesday morning.
“The unit started generating electricity from 9:30 pm on Monday,” said Mawla.
The second unit's operations had been halted for maintenance on November 9, 2024. With its recommissioning, both units of the power plant are now operational and supplying electricity to the national grid.
The Payra Thermal Power Plant is a significant contributor to Bangladesh's energy infrastructure, helping meet the growing demand for electricity across the country.
