Bangladeshi youth Injured in BSF firing along Chapainawabganj border

Chapainawabganj, Jan 11 (V7N) — A Bangladeshi youth sustained severe injuries after being shot by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) near the Azmatpur border in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district.

The incident occurred on Friday night.


The injured individual has been identified as Md Shahidul Islam, 22, a resident of Bagichapara in Shibganj.

Lt Col Golam Kibria, Commander of the 59 BGB Battalion, said that Shahidul was injured by BSF gunfire while attempting to smuggle Phensedyl across the Azmatpur border.

Following the incident, Shahidul managed to flee back into Bangladesh despite being wounded.

He abandoned a sack containing 25 bottles of Phensedyl, a machete, and a flashlight at the scene.

BGB members later recovered these items during a late-night operation around 2am

According to local sources, Shahidul was rescued by relatives and locals in an injured state and transported to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
