Rangamati, Jan 16, (V7N) - In protest against the attack on 16 students during a peaceful program organized by Students for Sovereignty in Dhaka, the Parbatya Chattagram Chhatra Parishad (PCCP) held a protest march in Rangamati city. The peaceful demonstration was in response to the attack on students who were protesting against the controversial and banned use of the term ‘indigenous’ in textbooks.

On Wednesday night, members of PCCP began their march from Rangamati Municipality premises, proceeding along the Rangamati-Chittagong road, turning at the Banrupa Petrol Pump, and finally gathering for a brief meeting at Alif Market.

The rally was presided over by PCCP Rangamati District Vice President, Mohammad Alamgir Hossain. Other speakers at the meeting included PCCP Rangamati District Advisor Mohammad Kamal Uddin, District General Secretary Mohammad Khalilur Rahman, Organizing Secretary Mizanur Rahman, Municipality President Parvez Mosharraf Hossain, General Secretary Zahidul Islam Roni, and Organizing Secretary Riazul Islam Babu, among others.

The speakers condemned the attack and said, "The hill terrorist organization, United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) and its student wing, the Parbatya Chattagram Student Council (PCP), executed this brutal attack under the pretext of protesting the use of the term ‘indigenous’ in textbooks. This attack, which left 16 patriotic students severely injured, was completely unprovoked and intentional. Yet, the terrorists are falsely claiming to be the victims of the incident with the help of left-wing organizations and media."

The speakers also emphasized that the hill terrorists are often the first to initiate violence, and when others defend themselves, the terrorists falsely portray themselves as victims. This is a consistent tactic used by these groups to mislead the public.

The PCCP leaders strongly condemned the terrorist activities in Rangamati and demanded that the perpetrators be arrested immediately and punished as an example to others. They also urged the government to ensure proper medical treatment and compensation for the injured patriotic students.
