Tangail, July 11 (V7N) – After 25 years, Monwara Begum, a former nurse at Delduar Upazila Health Complex, has received back her long-lost savings of Tk 25,000, deposited with the now-defunct NGO Social Development Sangha (SDS). “I never imagined I’d see this money again,” she said, expressing deep relief.

She is one of over 300 clients who were refunded nearly Tk 1 crore at a ceremony held Thursday at Tangail Shishu Academy. The event, organized by Najmul Agro Fisheries & Dairy Farm, also saw over Tk 30 lakh returned to around 50 clients before Eid.

Md. Obaidullah, another recipient, said, “I had saved Tk 50,000 with great effort. Getting it back is a big help — I’ll use it for my daughter’s education.”

SDS Clients’ Committee President Salam Chakladar noted that legal action had made this recovery possible. “Only those with proper documents are receiving refunds,” he stated.

SDS Managing Director Najmul Huda added, “We’ve published notices in newspapers. Verified clients are getting back their deposits, and we plan to expand this initiative across the country.”
