Mongla, Feb 18, (V7N) – A significant amount of relief food supplies from two years ago was recovered from the store room of the Upazila Project Implementation Officer (PIO) in Mongla. The recovery was made by the Citizens' Committee on Monday afternoon. Among the food items found in sacks and boxes were rice, lentils, sugar, puffed rice, jaggery, saline, and biscuits.

These food supplies had been allocated by the government for the victims of the cyclone "Rimel" but were not distributed at the time. Instead, they were secretly hoarded with the intention of being misappropriated. Additionally, winter blankets were also recovered from the site.

Despite repeated attempts to contact the Upazila Executive Officer, Afia Sharmin, by phone, she did not respond.

However, Mohammad Arifur Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Bagerhat, commented, "I am looking into the matter and gathering information."
