Narsingdi, Oct 5 (V7N) — A protest rally and demonstration were held on Sunday against the brutal attack on Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Anwar Hossain Shamim, known for his strict actions against local criminals and extortionists.
The protest, organized by the social organization “Samajik Andolon,” began in the afternoon at the Narsingdi BRTC Bus Stand and proceeded through major streets of the municipality, concluding at Narsingdi Municipality Square. A short gathering was later held at Sutapatti Mor.
The event was presided over by Bablu Sarkar, president of Samajik Andolon Narsingdi. Speakers included Sahen Shah Shanu, senior vice president of the district Jubo Dal, Abdul Motalib Bhuiya, general secretary of the Narsingdi Bazar Banik Samiti, Sujon Saha, vice president, Khairul Bashar Khandakar, joint secretary of district Jubo Dal, along with Billal Hossain, Rasel Hossain, Riajur Aslam, Md. Adar Mia, Abdur Razzak, Ziaur Rahman Zia, Ali Mortaza, Bashir Ahmed, Sharif Molla, Mohammad Ali, Rasel Khandakar, Sarwar Hossain, and other local leaders.
During the protest, participants demanded the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the attackers. They emphasized that Anwar Hossain Shamim, a courageous police officer, has long been leading operations against crime, drugs, and extortion in the region. They warned that the attack on him is not only an assault on an individual officer but a direct challenge to law enforcement and public safety.
Authorities confirmed that investigation into the incident is ongoing, and security measures have been heightened in the area to prevent further attacks. The protest underscored widespread local support for the officer and a call for strict action against criminals.
