Narsingdi, Nov 15 (V7N) – Residents and local leaders in Narsingdi are calling for the revival of the Narsingdi-Madanganj railway route, a once vital transport link that played a central role in the area’s economic and social life.
The Narsingdi Railway Station, formerly a bustling junction, connected communities and facilitated trade, contributing significantly to the local economy. Trains running on the Narsingdi-Madanganj line provided daily convenience for commuters and traders, helping to integrate the region into broader commercial networks.
Over time, however, the route was discontinued, and the station has gradually lost its former vitality. Locals now describe it as a memory of a bygone era, with the absence of train services affecting both daily life and regional commerce.
Community members argue that reinstating the railway service could rejuvenate the local economy, ease transportation, and restore a historic legacy that once made Narsingdi a key hub in the region. “Reviving the Narsingdi-Madanganj route will bring back an essential connection that supported livelihoods, trade, and mobility,” said a local business leader.
Railway enthusiasts and social activists have joined the call, urging authorities to evaluate the feasibility of reopening the line, highlighting its potential to create jobs, improve accessibility, and boost regional development.
