Rajshahi, Dec 07 (V7N) – Hundreds of BNP leaders and supporters gathered in Rajshahi on Saturday for a prayer rally seeking the recovery of BNP Chairperson and three-time former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, who is currently undergoing intensive treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. Khaleda Zia is scheduled to travel to London for advanced medical care later on Sunday.
The rally, organized by Ward-1 of Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP at Kashiadanga Mor, featured speeches by BNP leaders emphasizing Khaleda Zia’s lifelong dedication to democracy and her uncompromising stance against injustice. Mizanur Rahman Minu, Khaleda Zia’s advisor, former Rajshahi mayor, and BNP nominee for Rajshahi Sadar constituency, called Khaleda Zia not only a national leader but also a global figure. He urged citizens to ignore false propaganda circulating against her and continue praying for her health.
Minu also encouraged supporters to vote for Khaleda Zia under the BNP’s election symbol, the “Dhaner Sheesh,” in the upcoming national parliamentary elections scheduled for February next year.
The rally was presided over by Ward-1 BNP president Mainul Islam and conducted by general secretary Tinkur. Special guests included Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP former convener Advocate Ershad Ali Isha, senior vice president Nazrul Huda, vice presidents Aslam Sarkar, Waliul Haque Rana, Shafiqul Islam Shafik, and Zainul Abedin Shibli, general secretary Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, former Rajpara Thana BNP president Shawkat Ali, and general secretary Ali Hossain.
Hundreds of leaders and activists from BNP, its affiliated and student organizations, including youth wing acting convener Shariful Islam Jony, Zia Parishad vice president Saiful Islam Hirak, and former metropolitan student wing president Akbar Ali Jacky, attended the rally to show solidarity and support for Khaleda Zia’s recovery.
