UKHIA (COX’S BAZAR), March 5, (V7N) — After a hiatus of nearly 13 months, Syed Alam, the elected Chairman of Jaliapalong Union Parishad in Ukhia Upazila, has officially returned to his duties. Following a court verdict that cleared the legal complexities surrounding his tenure, he resumed his administrative responsibilities on Thursday morning.

The Union Parishad office was filled with a festive atmosphere as local representatives, council members, and supporters welcomed him back with floral wreaths.
Background of the Suspension

Suspension Order: Syed Alam was temporarily suspended by the Local Government Division (LGD) over a year ago due to an ongoing legal case.

Interim Leadership: During his absence, Panel Chairman Abul Kalam served as the Acting Chairman, overseeing the union's day-to-day administrative activities.

Election Legacy: Syed Alam was originally elected as Chairman in the 2021 Union Parishad elections, securing a landslide victory before the legal dispute led to his temporary removal.

Commitment to the People

Upon returning to his desk, Chairman Syed Alam expressed his gratitude to the judicial system and his constituents.

"I am the chairman elected by the people. By the grace of the Honorable Court's verdict, I have regained my responsibility. InshaAllah, I will stand by the people of this union as I did before and remain committed to fulfilling their expectations and advancing our development activities." — Syed Alam

The chairman’s return is expected to provide a new impetus to several stalled infrastructure projects in the Jaliapalong area, particularly those involving coastal protection and rural road development.
