PABNA, March 20, (V7N) — Police recovered the slit‑throated body of an elderly van driver, Fazlur Rahman (55), from a paddy field in Bera upazila of Pabna on Friday morning.

The body was found in Barashila Mahalla of Bera Municipality, and the van he had been driving was seized nearby, said Bera Model Police Station Officer‑in‑Charge Nitai Chandra.

Fazlur Rahman, son of the late Abdul Munnaf of Hatigara Mahalla, lived in a rented house in the Hatigara Canal area. According to locals, he had gone out with his van Thursday evening and did not return. His body was discovered the next morning lying in a paddy field beside the Barashila–Nalbhanga road.

Residents believe miscreants may have called him out at night, killed him by slitting his throat, and abandoned the body. However, police have not yet identified the motive or those involved.

OC Nitai Chandra said: “Upon receiving the information, the body was recovered and sent to Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsy. The investigation is ongoing, and details will be provided once it is complete.”
