BEIJING, March 20, (V7N) — China’s top diplomat Wang Yi told French presidential adviser Emmanuel Bonne on Friday that Beijing and Paris should work together to help resolve the escalating crisis in the Middle East.

Wang said the situation “continues to deteriorate” and warned that “an unjust war must not continue,” according to a foreign ministry readout. He stressed that “the right way out of the crisis remains dialogue and negotiation.”

“As permanent members of the UN Security Council, China and France should enhance strategic communication and coordination… and prevent the world from reverting to the ‘law of the jungle’,” Wang said. “China and France should work together to that end.”

The war, triggered by US and Israeli strikes on Iran last month, has disrupted global energy security and threatened China’s oil supplies. While Beijing is a partner of Tehran, it has also criticised Iranian strikes on Gulf states hosting US bases and urged a ceasefire.

China has sought to play a mediating role, dispatching special envoy Zhai Jun on a regional tour where he met leaders in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the Arab League to call for de‑escalation.
