RANGAMATI, March 26 (V7N) — A member of the Rangamati District Police, retired Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Md. Mahabur Hasan, has died after sustaining critical injuries in a road accident while on duty, casting a pall of mourning across the district.

According to police sources, the accident occurred on March 23, 2026, near the Manikchhari Army Camp Gate on the Rangamati–Chittagong highway. Hasan was travelling by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw from the Kaptai police outpost when the vehicle reportedly lost control, leaving him seriously injured.

Locals rescued him immediately and rushed him to Rangamati Medical College Hospital, where he received primary treatment. He was later transferred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for advanced care.

Despite efforts by doctors, he succumbed to his injuries on March 25 while undergoing treatment.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a son.

Rangamati’s Superintendent of Police expressed deep sorrow over the incident, praying for the eternal peace of the departed soul and extending condolences to the bereaved family.
