DHAKA, March 22, (V7N) – Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the casualties caused by the train-bus collision in Cumilla, as well as other recent accidents in Habiganj and across the country.  The Prime Minister conveyed profound condolences over the loss of lives in the collision between a train and a bus at a railway crossing in Cumilla.

Following a recent train accident in Bogura, the premier instructed authorities to immediately determine the causes behind the latest incident, which occurred late Saturday night. He has already held multiple discussions with ministry officials and local administration regarding the accident.  

Rahman directed officials to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured and provide financial assistance to families of the deceased. He emphasized that thorough investigations will be conducted into the Cumilla collision and that exemplary legal action will be taken against those found negligent.  

- Three committees have been formed to investigate the Cumilla accident: two by railway authorities and one by the district administration.  

- All committees have been instructed to submit reports within 72 hours.  

- Action has already been taken against several individuals for negligence, with further steps pending investigation outcomes.  

The Prime Minister also directed authorities to ensure treatment and support for those injured in road accidents in Feni, Habiganj, Jamalpur, and other districts. He stressed that such tragedies are “extremely painful and concerning at a time of joyous celebration of Eid.”  

“Every life is valuable, and every death is an irreparable loss,” Rahman said, praying for the forgiveness of the deceased and wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.  

He reiterated that the government is committed to safe and uninterrupted movement of people, warning that no negligence will be tolerated. Relevant ministries have been instructed to identify weaknesses in railway crossing management, bridge safety, and the overall transportation system, and to take urgent corrective measures.
