Mar 15 (V7N) – Abbas Araghchi has said that Iran has neither requested a ceasefire nor sought negotiations with Donald Trump, stressing that Tehran will continue defending itself during the ongoing conflict with the United States.

In an interview with CBS News, the Iranian foreign minister said Iran is prepared to defend itself for as long as necessary.

“No, we never asked for a ceasefire, and we have never asked even for negotiation. We are ready to defend ourselves as long as it takes,” Araghchi said in the interview.

He added that Iran will continue its defence until Trump recognises what he described as an “illegal war with no victory.”

Araghchi also criticised the US administration over the ongoing conflict, claiming that people are being killed unnecessarily due to the policies of the American leadership.

The Iranian foreign minister described certain actions by Washington, including attacks on ships, as a “war of choice” initiated by the United States and its president.

At the same time, Araghchi rejected suggestions that Iran is fighting for survival, saying the Iranian government remains stable and strong enough to protect its people.

He also indicated that Iran is willing to assist in investigations into civilian strikes and expressed support for international efforts aimed at ending the conflict.
