March 29, 2026 (V7N) — The district administration has decided to stop supplying fuel oil to motor vehicles that fail to present valid documents, including driver’s licenses and registration certificates.
The decision was taken at a meeting on Sunday afternoon at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room, chaired by DC Md. Al Mamun Mia and attended by Superintendent of Police Mina Mahmuda, Additional District Magistrate Mohaimena Sharmin, and leaders of the District Petrol Pump Owners Association.
Under the new rules, petrol pumps and fuel agencies will not provide fuel to undocumented vehicles, while motorcyclists without helmets will also be denied fuel.
Officials said the initiative aims to ensure fair distribution of fuel and strengthen road safety measures. Authorities also announced drives against the illegal sale of fuel in the open market and deployment of law enforcement personnel at petrol pumps.
To raise awareness, large banners outlining the new rules will be displayed at all petrol pumps across the district starting Monday.
