PABNA, April 29 (V7N) — A mobile court in Pabna city has sealed two private clinics and sentenced their owners to prison terms with fines after uncovering serious irregularities.

Acting on information from the National Security Intelligence (NSI), raids were carried out Wednesday afternoon at Madhupur Clinic in Golapbagh and Saleha Clinic in Shalgaria Godownpara. The operation was led by Executive Magistrate Abdul Alim.

Authorities reported expired licenses, absence of doctors and nurses, poor quality of medical services, and patient transfers from Sadar Hospital through brokers. Both clinics were immediately sealed.

Shafiqul Rahman Shafi, owner of Madhupur Clinic, was sentenced to one month in prison and fined Tk 25,000.

Rezaul Karim, owner of Saleha Clinic, received one month in prison and a Tk 50,000 fine.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Director ABM Lutful Kabir, directed by NSI Joint Director Toufiq Iqbal, with Dr. Monirul Islam from the Pabna Civil Surgeon’s Office present.

This crackdown reflects growing efforts to enforce accountability in the healthcare sector, targeting unlicensed and poorly managed clinics that pose risks to patient safety.
