Lalmonirhat, Jun 06 (V7N) – An alleged attempt to push 33 men and women into Bangladesh through multiple border points in Lalmonirhat district was thwarted following heightened vigilance by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), officials said.
According to the BGB, suspicious movements involving a total of 33 individuals were detected at four border locations early Friday. The persons were reportedly gathered near border areas adjacent to Bangladesh, raising concerns of a possible push-in attempt.
Of the individuals identified, 11 were spotted near the Barakhata border under the Teesta Battalion (61 BGB), 10 near the Paishattabari border in Patgram upazila, and 12 in the Dighaltari-Durgapur border area of Aditmari upazila.
Upon receiving the information, BGB deployed additional personnel and strengthened surveillance at the affected border points. Members took strategic positions to prevent any unauthorized entry into Bangladeshi territory.
Officials said the individuals remained within the zero line and on the Indian side of the border throughout the day but were unable to cross into Bangladesh due to the strict security measures.
According to the media cell of 15 BGB, all individuals who had been gathered near the border were later taken back into Indian territory by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF).
BGB officials stated that the situation at all border points is currently normal. However, security forces remain on high alert and are continuing round-the-clock surveillance and patrol activities to prevent any future attempts at illegal infiltration.
The border force reiterated its commitment to protecting Bangladesh's territorial integrity and maintaining strict monitoring along the frontier.
