JHALOKATHI, July 30 (V7N) – The Jhalokathi Upazila administration has stepped up enforcement of a ban on DJ music, loudspeakers, and high-volume sound systems at the renowned Bhimruli Floating Guava Market to preserve the area's natural environment and ensure a peaceful experience for visitors.
As part of the enforcement drive, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Segufta Mehnaz conducted a surprise inspection on Wednesday morning at the famous tourist destination in Kirtipasha Union. The initiative follows complaints that some visitors had been playing loud music on boats, disturbing the area's tranquillity, biodiversity, and the comfort of other tourists.
The inspection was also attended by the Assistant Director of the Department of Environment in Jhalokathi and the Chairman of Kirtipasha Union Parishad.
During the visit, officials instructed tourists and boat operators not to use DJ equipment, loudspeakers, or other high-volume sound systems while travelling through the floating market and surrounding waterways. They warned that violations would result in legal action through mobile court proceedings.
The move has been welcomed by local residents and environmentally conscious visitors, who expressed hope that the measure will help preserve the peaceful atmosphere and unique natural beauty of the world-famous floating guava market for future generations.
