Netrakona, July 31 (V7N) - In celebration of National Fisheries Week-2024, which runs from July 30 to August 5, the opening ceremony took place on Wednesday, July 31. The event, held under the theme "Bharbo Mache Moder Desh, Garbo Smart Bangladesh," featured a vibrant rally that started at the District Commissioner's office and made its way to the upazila square at 10:45 a.m.
 
The inaugural program, organized by the Netrakona Fisheries Department, was held at the Netrakona Sadar Upazila Parishad auditorium. Deputy Commissioner Shahed Parvez presided over the event, which saw the participation of notable guests including Nazrul Islam Khan, Additional Superintendent of Police; Sahib Ali Pathan, Chairman of Netrakona Sadar Upazila Parishad; Maruf Hasan Khan Avro, District Fisheries Officer Shajahan Kabir; and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tanya Tabassum.
 
During the ceremony, the district fisheries directorate honored local fishermen for their exceptional contributions to the fisheries sector in the district.
