Bagerhat, August 23 — A dead dolphin was recovered from the Panguchi River in Morelganj, Bagerhat, on Friday morning, drawing significant attention from local residents. The discovery was made around 10:00 AM in the Kheyaghat area along the banks of the Old Thana River.

Kabir Hossain, a resident of Barikhali village, and Md. Sohel Joy were among the first to spot the dolphin. According to them, they noticed a black object floating in the river while raising their fishing net. Upon closer inspection, they discovered it was a dolphin, already dead.

The dolphin, weighing approximately 8 kg, quickly became the focus of local curiosity as residents gathered to view the rare find. After some time, the locals decided to bury the dead dolphin.

Incidents like this highlight the ongoing environmental challenges faced by marine life in the region's rivers. The cause of the dolphin's death remains unknown, and it serves as a somber reminder of the delicate balance of riverine ecosystems.
