Barguna, Sep 10 (V7N) – A case has been registered against Shaon Molla, son of BNP leader Farooq Molla, for assaulting Haroon Or Rashid, the former commander of the Barguna District Freedom Fighters Sangsad. The incident occurred on Sunday in front of the Barguna District Commissioner's office.

The victim, Haroon Or Rashid, personally filed the case at the Barguna Sadar Police Station on Monday afternoon, naming Shaon Molla and two to three other unidentified individuals as the accused.

According to the complaint, the attack took place around 11 am, after which the assailants recorded the incident and later circulated the footage on social media. The video, which went viral, sparked outrage, with many calling for justice.

Haroon Or Rashid, a revered freedom fighter, stated, "I have filed the case seeking justice, and I hope the authorities will take the necessary actions."

Dewan Jaglul Hasan, the Officer-in-Charge of Barguna Sadar Police Station, confirmed that an investigation is underway but declined to provide further details at this stage.

The controversy intensified when, after the video spread, Shaon Molla appeared live on Facebook, justifying the assault by accusing Haroon Or Rashid of being a "robber and a rapist." This online statement has further inflamed the situation, leading to widespread condemnation of the incident.

The case remains under investigation, and local authorities are expected to address the issue in the coming days.
