Rangamati, Aug 12 (V7N) – In a late-evening operation on Sunday, police arrested Mizan, a senior local leader of the forbidden party’s Jubo League, from the Banarupa Market area of Rangamati town. The special operation, codenamed “Devilhunt,” was launched following confidential intelligence inputs, police confirmed.

Md. Sahed Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rangamati Kotwali Police Station, confirmed the arrest. He said the operation was conducted under direct instructions from Rangamati Superintendent of Police Dr. Farhad Hossain.

According to police sources, Mizan remained in continuous contact with senior figures from the recently ousted government and was actively coordinating political activities until the moment of his detention. Forensic examination of his mobile phone reportedly confirmed his ongoing communications and role in organizational matters.

Authorities also stated that Mizan is under scrutiny from a separate government agency regarding the legitimacy of his financial assets and income sources. Investigators believe he may have been preparing to flee the country, as he had already obtained a passport and visa.

Police further revealed that Mizan had regular and close contact with Akbar Hossain Chowdhury, the former mayor of Rangamati Municipality and current president of the district Jubo League. Digital evidence suggests that Mizan was still operating under Akbar's political directives, despite recent shifts in local power dynamics.

Law enforcement agencies are now working to determine the full scope of Mizan’s political connections, financial dealings, and possible plans to evade legal accountability. Police officials said that appropriate legal measures will be taken once the investigation is complete.
