DHAKA, May 17, (V7N) – The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has issued an urgent directive, warning heads of educational institutions to be vigilant against fraud and misappropriation of student stipend and scholarship funds, officials confirmed today.
According to the directives, all types of scholarships and stipends for students at PSC, JSC, SSC, HSC, and graduation levels must be disbursed exclusively through the Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) system. This ensures that the funds are directly deposited into the scheduled bank accounts of the respective students.
This directive was prompted by reports of fraudulent individuals impersonating officials from the education ministry, DSHE, education boards, various government offices, and banks. These fraudsters have reportedly attempted to collect money, user IDs, passwords of institutions, banking details, and even debit/credit card PINs or One-Time Passwords (OTPs) from educational institutions or student guardians under false pretenses.
The DSHE issued these crucial directives on May 15th. Officials stated that necessary guidelines pertaining to this secure disbursement process have also been uploaded to the notice board on the DSHE's official website. The directorate has urged education institution heads to maintain the confidentiality of banking details, debit/credit card PINs, and OTPs.
Simultaneously, the DSHE reiterated the critical importance of safeguarding all login credentials to prevent any potential misuse.
