Sharjah, Oct 6 (V7N) — Bangladesh completed a historic 3–0 whitewash against Afghanistan in their three-match T20 series, turning what was meant to be a mere formality into a memorable victory. The Tigers, having already secured the series with wins in the first two matches, sealed the final game in dominant fashion thanks to an explosive innings from Saif Hassan.
After losing the toss and being sent to bat, Afghanistan struggled from the start. They were reeling at 39 for 3, unable to build momentum against Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling attack. Darwish Rasooli (32) and Sediqullah Atal (28) tried to stabilize the innings, but regular wickets from Nasum Ahmed and Mohammad Saifuddin kept the pressure on. A late cameo from Mujeeb Ur Rahman—23 runs off 18 balls—helped Afghanistan reach 143 for 9 in their 20 overs.
Mohammad Saifuddin was the standout bowler for Bangladesh, claiming 3 wickets for just 15 runs in 3 overs. Nasum Ahmed and Tanzim Hasan Sakib took two wickets each, while Shoriful Islam and Rishad Hossain grabbed one apiece.
Chasing 144, Bangladesh lost Parvez Hossain Emon (14) early but quickly regained control. Saif Hassan, alongside Tanzid Hasan (33), formed a solid 55-run partnership that put Bangladesh firmly on top. A brief scare came when Mujeeb dismissed Zakir Ali (10) and Shamim Hossain (0) in consecutive balls, but Saif’s composure anchored the innings.
Saif went on to score a blistering 64 off 35 deliveries, his fourth T20 half-century, steering Bangladesh to victory with 12 balls and six wickets to spare. Captain Nurul Hasan remained unbeaten on 10.
This 3–0 series sweep marks another milestone in Bangladesh’s T20 cricket history. With controlled bowling, sharp fielding, and Saif Hassan’s commanding knock, Sharjah’s night belonged entirely to the Tigers.
