New York, Nov 7 (V7N) — Newly elected New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s transition committee has raised an unprecedented $517,947 within just 30 hours, setting a remarkable fundraising record in the city’s political history.

According to the committee’s official report, a total of 7,028 donors contributed to the fund, with the average donation amounting to only $73. This level of participation surpasses the combined first-round donor totals of the city’s previous two mayors—Eric Adams (884 donors) and Bill de Blasio (820 donors).

Although the fundraising pace has drawn widespread attention, Mamdani’s effort stands out for its heavy reliance on small, grassroots contributions. His average donation of $73 sharply contrasts with Adams’ $1,219 and de Blasio’s $2,392 averages.

Mayor-elect Mamdani expressed gratitude to supporters, saying, “I’m deeply thankful to the thousands of hardworking New Yorkers who have contributed to our transition effort. Their support enables us to start our work immediately and advance the ‘Affordability Agenda’ that we’ve fought for since day one.”

Elana Leopold, Executive Director of the Transition Committee, noted, “More than 7,000 donors placed their trust in Mayor-elect Mamdani’s leadership. We’re proud that the average donation is just $73—it proves that ordinary New Yorkers are the true driving force behind this movement.”

Political analysts say Mamdani’s rapid fundraising reflects both his growing popularity and the trust of the city’s working- and middle-class residents. They describe it as one of the most powerful grassroots transition efforts in New York City’s recent political history.
