Purbachal, Dec 05 (V7N) – Home Affairs Advisor Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that the government has not failed in its ongoing operation to recover heavy weapons ahead of the upcoming national elections.

He made the remarks on Friday morning during a volunteer honoring ceremony at the Fire Service Training Ground in Purbachal.

Pre-Election Weapon Recovery

Commenting on the nationwide special drive to seize illegal heavy weapons before the polls, the Home Affairs Advisor said:
“The operation is progressing effectively. The government has not failed in this regard.”

On the Police Commission Ordinance

Speaking about the newly formulated Police Commission Ordinance, he stated that the law was created for public service.
“If any forces have objections, they can place them before the authorities,” he added.

When asked about the BDR mutiny investigation report, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury avoided giving any direct answer.

Training for 55,000 Volunteers

The advisor also announced that 55,000 volunteers will be trained nationwide to assist in disaster management.
“They will remain ready to support Fire Service operations at any time,” he said.

The government is also considering offering additional benefits to these volunteers, he noted.

Fire Service Members Honored

At the ceremony, 22 members of the Fire Service were honored for their outstanding contributions.
