Professor Dr. Mohammad Alamgir Kabir, hailing from the Department of Statistics and Data Science, has been appointed as the acting proctor of Jahangirnagar University (JU). This appointment was confirmed through an official office order issued by the university's Registrar, Abu Hasan, on Monday.

As per the circular, the role of acting proctor was bestowed upon Dr. Mohammad Alamgir Kabir following a written request from the former proctor of the university, ASM Feroz Ul Hasan, who serves as an associate professor in the Department of Government and Politics.

Dr. Mohammad Alamgir Kabir brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having previously served as the director of the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) and as the provost of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall. Currently holding the position of provost at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Hall, his diverse background equips him well for the responsibilities of the acting proctorship.

ASM Feroz Ul Hasan, the former proctor, has been an integral part of Jahangirnagar University since 2009, initially joining as a lecturer in the Department of Government and Politics. Over the years, he has taken on various roles within the university administration, culminating in his appointment as the permanent proctor on November 6, 2022.

In response to his new role, Prof. Mohammad Alamgir Kabir emphasized the importance of collaboration and inclusivity, irrespective of political affiliations. He extended a request for cooperation and prayers from all stakeholders, underscoring his commitment to serving the university community diligently.
